Vitae
With
over twenty years of professional experience in private practice
as a registered architect, Quentin operates an architectural office
specialized in commercial and high-end, custom residential design.
Located in Pacific Palisades, California, his projects range from
mixed-use commercial office buildings to exclusive single family,
luxury residences.
The majority of Archwork commissions are located
in Southern California, with a few projects in Florida, Vermont,
New York and South Carolina, as well as completed residences in
Singapore and Europe. He is N.C.A.R.B. licensed and accredited to
practice architecture internationally.
In 1990 Quentin was selected as the “1990
Dream House Architect” for L.A. WEST Magazine. In the late
1990’s one of his commissions involved the design development
of highly efficient, low-cost housing shelters, Foam Domes©
using poly-isocyanate compounds with epoxy-resin based shells to
create efficient low-impact habitat. This was followed by the The
Qube House, a design concept establishing an innovative fast-track,
Type V construction methods with prefabrication of composite construction
systems for geologically challenging sites. In 2005 Quentin developed
a prefabricated design for a quick-build (14 week) 1,250 sq.ft.,
loft-style vacation home entitled Domo Vitae.
Quentin has served as an architectural consultant
for interior design and planning, and with commercial projects as
a local entitlement liaison with the Los Angeles Dept. of Bldg.
& Safety. His projects include the Schematic Design for 40,000
sq.ft. Bartel’s Harley Davidson Bldg. in Marina Del Rey, CA.
and is currently supervising the renovation of the First Presbyterian
Church of Santa Monica, slated for completion in June 2007.
In the late 1980’s he worked as senior Project
Manager for Cannell & Chaffin, Los Angeles, with administrative
duties, which included construction project management, interior
design, and space planning. Prior to being employed on the West
Coast, he was engaged on the board of directors in his father's
architectural office for three years in Miami, Florida. Alfred Browning
Parker, Architects Chartered designed and built commercial retail
centers, churches, schools and retail ventures, with a priority
towards residential single family home construction throughout the
Southeast.
In the fall of 1977 he enrolled at HARVARD University
Graduate School of Design, where he was awarded Master in Architecture
in 1980. He was licensed in FL as a resgistered architect in 1981.
His first professional degree, Bachelor of Environmental Design
in Architecture (m.c.l.) was received from NORTH CAROLINA STATE
UNIVERSITY in 1976. Returning from Europe in 1973 he attended German
private boarding schools, such as the Odenwaldschule 1963, and Waldschulheim
Breuer in 1967, and graduated from the Pädagogium Otto Kühne
Schule in Bonn in 1972.
He is an accomplished speaker for professional
education seminars, and is listed in Who's Who in California. His
publications include articles on remodeling, renovation and topics
about architectural services and residential architecture for the
L.A. Times and other local publications. Currently he operates an
architecture office in Pacific Palisades, CA. He is renovating a
1928 house in Topanga CA as owner/builder with his two children,
Wyatt and eagle scout Harley Parker. Their recreational activities
include boy scout activities, travel, camping, scuba-diving, skiing,
photography and writing.
