On Seeing Clearly:

"The greatest thing a human soul ever does in this world is to see something and tell what it saw in a plain way.

Hundreds of people can talk for one who can think, but thousands can think for one who can see.

To see clearly is poetry, prophecy and religion - all in one."

from
Modern Painters John Ruskin, 1888

The Ecological Manifest

1.   The Earth is part of me, as I am part of this Earth. We are inseparable; we are co-dependent upon each other.
2.
This planet is a closed eco-system with clearly defined limits. We cannot change the sum of all parts; we can only affect how we interact, and what our impact is. Sustainable growth in a limited system is an oxymoron.
3.   As the predominant, evolved senescent beings, we have become the primary caretakers and caregivers of our common environment. Our responsibilities have grown beyond a personal value of self to a global social consciousness with common moral principles.
4.   There is no right or wrong in how we interact with our ecological systems. There is only effectiveness and wastefulness to our behavior. Our actions are determined by our awareness, by our ability to communicate, by our value system to modify the impact of our behavior, and by the principle in the belief of the common good for all things living.
5.   Making choices as the most intelligent co-habitative life forms is our prerogative. What decisions we make, depends upon what we know and how we are affected. The more we educate each other, the less we will impact cohabitants in this common environment.
6.   Life is the most precious commodity of consciousness, and too short in any time span to waste. Our needs are defined by the effective use of all natural resources and by the efficient applications of methodology to preserve these interactive systems.
7.   Thinking, evaluating, planning and constant behavior management of every daily task results in saving resources, conserving energy and modifying current use to a higher effectiveness with lower impact.
8.   Education, (communicating, discussing and listening to our environmental dialogue) is the most effective common conservation strategy.
9.   The most fundamental paradigm of effectiveness is self-awareness. Attitude and behavior are defining elements each individual enables for common, social modification.
10.   Accountability for individual and communal actions determines the legacy mankind leaves for all future generations.
11.   Our collective consciousness is the most powerful tool to bring about ecological improvement.
12.   The degree to which our thoughts and actions are in harmony with nature is defined by our collective ecological awareness.
13.   Independent will, perseverance and behavior determination, are the strongest contributions mankind can engage to affect conservation improvement on a global level.
14.   I alone bring about change of habit and behavior. The best conservation measure is to eliminate waste and use only what I need for sustenance.
